Sites for Motorhomes, Trailers and Tents

Camping at Gwillim is basic and communal. Campers must be self-contained as there are no hooks-ups available. The closest dumping station is located 40 minutes away in Chetwynd.
There are three general camping locations for RVs and tents, each with unique characteristics.

Gwillim Heights

  • Located on the left-hand side upon entry as you approach the log shelter
  • Large, relatively flat meadow surrounded by forest, ideal for trailers and motorhomes.
  • Common area in the middle set aside for campfires and games

Moose Meadows

  • Located on the right-hand side upon entry before the car parking
  • Smaller wooded area with sites cozied into the forest making it a bit quieter.
  • The ground can be uneven but otherwise a great location for tents and small RVs

The Bluff

  • Located to the left of the caretaker’s cabin after the log shelter
  • Grassy bluff above the creek, ideal for tenters.
  • The Bluff, catches the morning sun, and the sounds of the stream and features a lovely view of the lake.

Cabins
Gwillim has four large log cabins. What to bring? We suggest you bring everything you would for tenting, but leave the tent at home. The cabins are basic. They have no electricity, no cookstoves, and no refrigerators. They do have a wood stove for heat, wooden bunks (bring foamies), gaslights, and a large covered deck that is often used as the cooking area. All buildings including
the cabins at Gwillim are wheelchair accessible.

All the cabins are nestled in the forest and are amazingly soundproof to the rest of the camp noise. If you have little ones that need quiet to sleep, you may want to consider this option. The cabins are dry, cool in the heat, and easily warmed by the woodstove if it gets chilly.

Cabins are booked on a first-come first-serve basis. Cabins fill quickly, so register early. If more
families register than available cabins, the committee will contact families to coordinate cabin sharing. There is a divider curtain between bunks if two families share. You can request that a particular family share with you, as long as both families specify this request when they register.
