BCFFC depends on volunteers for our Local and Central Committees. Many volunteers have dedicated their time to the undeniable success of BCFFC over the years.

Welcome to British Columbia Family French Camp

At BC Family French Camp, children from French Immersion and other French-speaking children bring their families along to camp! Families camp in their own tents or trailers. Together, we form a friendly neighbourhood, surrounded by the sounds of children playing and singing in French.

Parents enjoy a rewarding blend of lounging time and sharing in a variety of small volunteer duties while their children use their French skills in a wonderful outdoor setting with their energetic and funny French-speaking moniteurs.

Evening activities for the whole family may include night games, volleyball or kickball, communal dessert, communal dinner, and sing-along campfires.

And parents don’t have to be able to speak French!

Canadian Parents for French Membership

DID YOU KNOW? BC Family French Camp enjoys the support of Canadian Parents for French BC & Yukon and for that all campers are required to be members in good standing. Make sure to have your CPF membership in place before registration opens up in January 2022.  Added bonus, 80% goes back to your local CPF chapter! That means more resources & extra-curricular activities in French for kids, parents, and teachers!

Camp Locations

Okanagan Gwillim Lake Vancouver Island

You’ll find BC Family French Camp at three different locations in British Columbia, Canada. During July, the camp is Summerland, on the shores of beautiful Okanagan Lake, in the interior of the province. Then the camp moves to northern British Columbia at Gwillim Lake, near Chetwynd, for a week. The final two weeks of camp take place in mid-August on the beaches of Vancouver Island, near Nanaimo.

Activities at each location are designed to take advantage of the local geography, flora, and fauna.

BCFFC Camp Dates

Nothing from January 1, 2025 to January 1, 2026.

  • Pre-Registration Opens

    February 19, 2023

    This registration period is for returning families who registered for Summer 2022 or Summer 2021 camps.

  • General Registration Opens

    February 26, 2023

    This registration period is for families who would like to attend camp for the first time, and any returning families who have yet to register for Summer 2023.
